I need to decide weather to share the videos via my personal youtube account "maryanchik" or via designated velovideo account -- "velovideoproject".
This seemingly minor detail will define the "distribution" or the way I share the videos. Why is it important? I want people to see the videos, but I wan to have control over who and when sees them. And I do this for a very selfish reason: when people see the videos, they comment on them, either verbally, in e-mail, by online comments, or provide no comment whatsoever, which is also a type of reaction. These comments affect me greatly. Positive or even negative comments induce desire to create and post more videos. Absence of thereof shuts me down, makes me feel like what I create is unimportant and useless. By way of controlling who and when see the video, I hope to foresee the comments and prepare for them. Knowing my constant worry of what people think about my work, I can say that ignoring comments will not be feasible.
But, can I really affect what people think about the videos they see? Sure. People's reaction to videos often depends on the videomaker's own view of his work. But, there are many other factors:
1. critics -- people that have strong opinions about the videos they see.
2. buzz -- how many people know and talk about it
3. respectables - people, who are generally well-regarded by all, and whose opinions on anything are seriously considered.
4. Personal opinions - generally what each person thinks about the video w/out being influenced by others.
5. People's current state of mind. For example, I don't appreciate subtle things on a weekday the morning after only 4 hours of sleep.
